Window Tinting

How hard is it to take off window tinting i bought my car with this crappy purplish tint on it and i want it off for four reasons. One, it looks extremely gay on a black car. Two, up close its bubbling and looks sloppy. Three, The rear window is extremely blurry you can barly make out shapes looking through and its just looking to get me into an accident. Four, the front two windows are tinted and its dark enough to where its illigal in minnesota. So has anyone on here removed their tint, how hard is it, if it is hard about how much would it cost to get it removed professionally?

p.s. i plan on haveing a different tint put back on its just the clarity and color that need to be fixed.

taking of the actual tint is fairly easy. Its like peeling of a sticker but the "starting point" is harder to find. The most important thing you have to do is get of all the glue and crap the tint leaves behind. Use a sharp sticker peeler and a heat gun to get the glue off. Its a pain but it works.

they actual make a tint remover kit. it has a spray of some kind of solution to disolve the glue and it comes with a scraper. i had to use it on a friends truck. it was a pain in the @ss, but the glass came out crystal clear for us. i think the stuff came from pepboys

usually shops charge you not too much to remove tint, if you are going to put new tint on. I just put tint on mine (without tint) and it was 128 including the banner. I'd say between 30-40 to remove it.

just remember that you can not use a razor blade in the rear because of the defroster lines.

laquer thinner or nail polish remover will both dissolve the glue too, but they are pretty strong smelling.

USE CAUTION ON THE REAR WINDOW!!!!!

This is coming from experience! If you just pull the tint off of the rear window you'll damage the rear defroster wires and it won't work anymore....

Make sure you soke it real good with amonia or tint remover.. At least I think it's amonia... Check on a tinting forum to be sure..
