Light in trunk

I'm trying to take out the light in my trunk so that I can use the wires to hook up a neon light, but I can't seem to get it to pop out. Do I need to remove the rear deck to get it out or do you think I should just break it??

Yeah take the time and take the rear deck off. Once you get the deck off its really easy to do, it will just take some time to get that far in the process.

With the rear seats it has a hook that holds it in, if you just pull on the bottom right and left corners of the bench part that will come out, then there are three hooks at the top of the back rest. Seriously i would take your time and do your trunk light right.

that seat back was a pain to get off, and so was the seat bottom. had to use a prybar as well.

it says you have an SE so you shouldn't have a 3rd brake light on the back deck (only GXEs would have those)

either way, if you're talking about that light, it has two plastic trim pieces on the side. You can push in at the center of the circular piece and then pull it out. Then the whole housing will come off.

I think he is talking about the light that is actually inside the trunk that shines down when you open up the lid. The one where you have to take off the rear deck to unsnap it from its holder...

there's two clips on each front corners on the seat bottom. lift it up a bit and you'll see it. pull as hard as you can upward on those clips and the bottom should pop out.

I finished my little project and I would not recommend it to anyone I bought a Pilot LED light for my trunk and it is so dim that you can barely see it. Maybe it'll look better at night or maybe I just need to get neon instead.
