heater question

heater question

sorry if this has been asked already, my dads 3rd gen's heater hasnt been working for a while now, is this a known problem with the 3rd gens? is there a fix to it?

i tried searching the faq links but i couldnt find anything.

what is it doing? blowing cold air? no blowing at all? not turning on?

2. Yes.

Do the legwork. Few pages towards the freeze of the winter, it was topic no.1.

For some reason faqs & stickies do not really stick on these down to earth matters...

its blowing cold air, even when the car warms up fully it never blows anything but cold air

just a check, but did you make sure the little lever all the way on the left is closed? If not, it will suck in outside air and be cold...I'm sure you've already checked that but just in case

I made that mistake

you may also want to try changing out your thermostat. last thought is heater core Thermostat should be your next step, imo. Is your water temp gauge going up to a normal level?

thermostat was changed, heater still doesnt work

anything else besides replacing heater core?

Yes.

Test the heater flow valve under hood. As told on those threads...
- vacuum powered. Vacuum present?
- electronics controlled. Is it? coil ok?
- bypass it. Now heats?

and so on and so on and so on. It pays to check the forum first.
