Engine missing
Engine missing
My Max, a '93 with DOHC, not sure of model, feels like it is misfiring when started up. This last for up to 20 miles then sometimes smooths out, and I get power back. It also bucks (feels like stalling even at highway speeds) occasionally.
I had the engine replaced with a used one less than 3000 km ago, it had to go back to the shop twice because of that awful ticking noise, they finally replaced the lifters.
Does anyone know, or has had the same problem, what could be causing this. I think it might be the computer, but not sure.

I can tell you that you have an SE, but past that i am no help, so this is kinda like a free little bump.
it probably is misfiring, and I wouldn't be surprised if the cause was a bad injector.
to check for a misfire disconnect the coils one at a time to see which one DOESN'T cause a change in how the engine runs. the one that doesn't affect it is the bad cylinder.
now you can break out the multimeter to check the injector's resistance, they should be between 10-14 ohms.
