Aha! Finally figured it out!

According to the 1990 Maxima dealer lit.
an SE could be ordered with an auto tranny
as an option. That explains my "tail" and white
guages as well as fog lights and black side
mirrors. I did recently see another one exactly
like mine in the junkyard.Same color and set up.
I do believe it was a '91 as it had the push drawer
under the radio.

wait so you didnt know that the SE was available with auto until now...how long have you been on this site? my 93 SE is an auto. There is going to be very few makers that make a manual only car. Thats usually reserved for some super car or something not an every day Maxima.

Figured the GXE had the auto and the SE was the manual.
That's the way I understood it before I read the dealer
lit.You couldn't get the GXE with a stick.

Well, at least he learned some stuff along the way.

From now on, though, things that you figure out through dealer literature, Chilton books and the owner's manual should probably be kept to yourself.

toyota mr2 spyder all came with a manual tranny to my knowledge. the new ones even have an option for a 6-speed sequential tranny with flap shifters on the steering wheel

i've been considering getting a 2000 lately... mid-engine, rwd, only weighs 2100-ish pounds. only pushes 138 hp and 125 ft. lb. of torque but nothing some mods can't fix... still though, that power in a car that light definitely won't feel that sluggish.

I was just messin' with ya.

I just meant you would less likely be flamed for getting excited about something most 3rd Gen owners already know.

enjoy your car.

Thanks...hard to believe it was heading to the crusher if my friend hadnt gotten it.

I pulled my kit off yesterday and filled the holes in the front bumper from the tag.

I am going to paint the bumpers and kit this week sometime and hopefully put them back on before the weekend.

lol yeah I know that feeling. I want to start on my Chevelle again so bad. I have to get rid of a few things first though. I am very comfident in my body/paint skills to tackle the Chevelle now though.

one day soon.

BUT

the maxima is fun to drive and the 5spd maxima is even more fun.
