Will R34 Skyline wheels fit?
Offset is wrong eh? I run 17x8 with 30mm offset. Does this look wrong to you?

Really? I guess your cardomain is wrong:

Add an inch of width and your tire will be cutting into the fender. Don't ask me why I think that

BTW: Your rims are balanced incorrectly. They should be tape-weighted instead of hammer on weights. Tape weights look better, are more accurate and the don't ruin the lip of you wheel. Just my $.02

And btw. You might want to check the offsets on those 350z rims you have in your sig They feature offsets of 33 and 30 mm

Hammer on weights are MORE accurate because they sit on the lip of the rim. A taped weight on the inside does look better, however if a wheel is out of balance, how does putting weight in the center fix it? A weight on the edge, counter weighs the unequal balance MUCH more than a weight in the center. Remember, if an object is spinning on its axis and is out of balance, weight at the edges will always affect it more than having dead weight in the middle.
You sound more like the janitor at discount tires.
Aright, whatever. You guys think that you know everything about everything on these stupid forums. Tape weights are better, I'm sticking to it. Hammer on weights suck and are inaccurate, they tend to fall off, they move down the lip during rotation, etc. No, I'm not the f*cking janitor, I'm a Tire Technician. And, I've asked tons of people, even my managers, they all say that tape weights are way better.

Incorrectly huh? Hmm that's the way they came from the factory. I'm still running the orginal tires. I'll be sure to write Ford Mo Co tomorrow and complain.

this thread already.
The last two posts really show how LITTLE you know. Sad considering you work in the industry.
Do you REALLY think Ford, Nissan, Toyota actually MAKE their own wheels?? I laugh every time someone tries to say Ford wheels are inferior etc...... Sad.
You should have kept the Z wheels and sold those tiny 7" rims you have in the sig. Wheels made to oem quality is probably better.

I've already sold them to someone for $800 w/ tires. I got them thru work for $50 each thank you very much!! Those wheels didn't come from the factory like that, they came from a Tire store that didn't know how to balance wheels.

i dont know about you son, but i've been working on cars as a profession for quite some time and it's always the "Tire Technicians" that cause the issues. We used to outsource our alignment and tire balancing to a shop in town. Lo and behold, every single car that went there came back to our shop with vibration in the steering wheel and extremely poor tire wear. Not only were they using tape weights when they should have been using hammer-ons, but they put directional tires on the wrong side of the car, not to mention the "This side faces IN" was on the outside....
Needless to say, we got our own alignment rack and tire balancing machine.
Oh, and once again, you're wong. You see Jeff's rims? They have an outer lip MADE for hammer-on weights. Therefore, you use edge weights.
and from discount tire's own web site: http://www.discounttire.com/dtc/broc...ireBalance.jsp
NOW! Before you even reply, I know what you're going to say. "Look at the last picture! They are using tape weights!"
Yes, yes they are, but they are also using edge weights which dynamicaly balances the wheel/tire combo. Just because a wheel/tire can be STATICLY balanced, DOESN'T mean it's DYNAMICALY balanced. Very rarely will you ONLY perform a static balance. If you guys are only doing static balances, may God be with your Service Writer... he'll be getting an earful, if he hasn't already...

The static imbalance creates a hop or vertical vibration. The dynamic imbalance creates a side-to-side or wobbling vibration. Most assemblies have both types of imbalance, and require dynamic balancing (commonly referred to as spin balancing) to create even weight distribution. The balancing system directs a technician to place counter weights on the rim's outer surface to offset the imbalance. When the balancing system tests for virtually perfect weight distribution, the assembly is in balance and will not vibrate. Your tires will ride smoothly and wear evenly (with regard to balance).

Well, you can talk to lots of my customers and they'll testify that tape weights are better. Why do they use tape weights in racing and other events then? The last picture on our website is what I was explaining, tape weights are supposed to be used for aftermarket wheels. And as for the Z wheels that I had. They actually rubbed on my right rear fender. I had to run 215-40-17's and they still rubbed? Those "7 inch wheels" in my sig are just wheels that I picked up from work for nothing. Think what you want to think and hate as much as you want. I don't care if you even lure people away from Discount Tire, we're America's #1 tire company and we won't stop! I'm going to stick to what I think is best and you can stick to whatever you want to. I was simply just trying to help you out and you made it into a complete off the topic arguement?
in preface, i will state that i have never fitted BNR34 wheels onto my 3rd gen, yet i will offer my advice based on dealing with my prior experiences with wheels and suspension:
the 18 X 9 BNR34 rims will NOT fit with practical funtionality on the 3rd gen; they are too wide even with the lowest profile tires available:
-if you have the car at stock height: the R34 rims *will fit* at rest, but you will have rubbing (on the inner fender and shock absorber) the second you drive forward, have passengers in the back, or you hit dips and bumps while traveling. *this is particularly guaranteed* as the 3rd gen has independent rear axles that allow the camber to fluctuate as the rear suspension goes through it's ranges of movement.
-if you have the car at stock height with a spacer: the R34 rims will fit, but you will have rubbing again at highway speeds with dips and bumps, and for sure with passengers in the back. the spacers will buy you some clearance, but not enough. the independent axles and fender guards will disallow for it.
-if you have lowered the car, spacer or not: nope.
-->in all 3 cases, the conclusion is: nope.
-for the record, the 3rd gen will typically accept offsets between 30-40mm, @114.3mm bolt circle/5 lug; 6.5"-8.5" width, depending on the spoke cross-sectional design. the ideal 3rd gen offset is 35mm.
what makes it a no-go for the r34 rims is simply the width of them, not the offset, as the offset of R34 GTRs is 30mm -- within the offset "sweet spot." yet offset is not the only thing that determines fitment. in this case, the high offset of the 9" wide rims will create rubbing inside the fender well.
go with BNR32 wheels if you prefer GTR culture.

Second, Just because Discount Tire (no S on tires for company name) is "America's largest independant tire company" doesn't mean they are #1 or the best.
Third, just because you work there doesn't mean you know what your talking about.
Fourth, You are trying to get technical with the offsets but are just digging your own grave.
Fifth, Hammer weights do not ruin the lip. That only happens when idiots aren't careful. I've mounted and balanced a fair share of tires and the mounting machine has a greater chance of ruining a wheel than a hammer weight with a careful "technician"
Sixth, you are correct, tape weights do look better, thats about it.
And lastly, have you ever licked your fingers after attaching weights?

then it obviously wasn't done right. I rallied my car through a construction site with a MkII Suprahhhh™ and none of my weights fell off...
maybe that
tire shop of yours used steel rim weights on your aluminum wheels...
