I know they are illegal but I just don't care. Anyways...the strobes I bought are a type that I have to drill a 3/4" hole in the headlight housing. Has anyone done this cuz I need to find a good safe place to drill but I'm hoping I can get a little help.
Actually I didn't know for sure. I'm sorry for asking a question that is unacceptable to you. Thanks for the help but the sarcasm wasn't really needed. So grow up.
Oh yeah! I just checked my title and it has MY name on it so I can do whatever I want to with my car. Ownership is a funny thing

oh stop
I like the 'grow up' coment though, havn't heard that in while.
Maybe i'll put on strobes now, sounds super duper now... If only someone could tell me where to drill a hole for them.....
Wait, is your name Corey Blade?

Secondary bets for how long until he gets one.
Then again, if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be installing them anyway.

I know they are illegal and so are any neon or strobe lights that can be seen by a cop. I know people that have gotten tickets for underbody light kits. But here you get a larger ticket for red lights because that is the color for emergency vehicles. And my original intention was not to use them while driving. I do have the toggle switch. And to the comment about "if I have to ask I probably shoudn't do it" have you never asked a question...wait my bad there goes another one of those damn questions. Can we not ask questions to double check or what? oh wait I'm sure in all the 8,446 posts by "MrGone" he has never asked an installation question because he and "therealgoon9" are obviously God and Jesus reincarnated in the form all-knowing maxima enthusiasts and they were sent to tell me that I'm a badass if I get strobes and having half your car primer is the cool thing to do.
Andgo ahead and lock this forum if you want to because Ant96GLE, MaxNub94,and ozzombie13 have given enough information and real opinions to help me. Thanks

In my state, if you have red or blue strobes or use any strobes in an attempt to pull someone over, you will be arrested for the class C felony of "Impersonating a Police Officer."
This involves going to jail, not just getting a ticket. I have no idea what the laws are in Oklahoma, but I think strobe lights on a car (other than an emergency vehicle) is a very, very, very bad idea. Maybe I would say it's OK, if you have a strictly show car. Maybe one that gets trailered from show to show.
Just because your name is on the car title, doesn't give you the right to break the law. Having your car "half primered" isn't agains the law, but having strobe lights is.

The only reason my ride has so much primer is because i shaved the handles, molded in some tail lights, and other things. I don't know if you know anything about body work... judging by the origin of this post. But normaly you don't go and repaint your car after each little body mod. You finish everything, leave it all primed and WHEN YOUR Done get it painted. That lil bit of information was free. Seems as how you have to bring it up over and again, I'd thought I'd give you a little sence.
As far as the strobes... Good luck with that one. I can see your next post will be how to change the shift know. Be careful with those super neat neon *****, those involve WIRING.

Can we take a breath and remember what the purpose of this forum is? I think asking questions, no matter how dumb they seem, is a good process for learning.
The strobes, IMO, are pointless except for show. I wouldn't run the risk of having them in an "everyday" car. However, if you are set on it, just make a master switch under the hood that will inhibit the temptation of turning them on while driving. How about that?

You just had to cross the line and sink that far............ how sad
In Missouri anyway, white and yellow neon underbody lights are legal..and you can get a $10 county/city issued permit for all other colors EXCEPT blue and red...the tubes themselves cant be visible, the lights cant be really bright (so the reflection on wet pavement isn't blinding), and the lights cant flicker at all....but..strobes will get you thwacked
-->
if used on the street..if you're gonna use strobes, put them behind the grille and rig some to be clear in the tails, and get a fog machine like they put on that s-10 pickup on "pimp my ride"
I was with a friend of mine when he got permits for green and purple neon, and when he asked for red and blue they told him those 2 colors were illegal, but he could use yellow and white legally with no permit. He was putting 4 different colors on his lowered 4wd dodge dakota...

I never said I was going to try to pull anyone over, I'm not stupid. Although I do like "nelledge" idea. All I wanted to know is about the headlights. And as far as the "breaking the law" stuff goes, If you have ever gone above the posted speed limit then you have broken the law as well.
And I talked to a friends uncle who happens to be a police officer and he informed me that in Oklahoma not only are red and blue illegal, but any colored neon lights that can be seen by an officer before you open your doors is illegal. And punishable by a ticket of above $250. And if they are strobes then you get arrested and your car will be impounded. My first impression was that the "strobe light laws" were similar to seat belt laws ($20 and you are done). So needless to say I won't be installing the strobes at all, but I will be getting some of those really cool Lighted spinning hubcaps! lol j/k

meh, to each of their own i suppose...not our fault if someone else does something to their car that will warrant a citation.
anyhow, i don't like the idea of drilling into the headlight housing. seems like you can cause the reflective surface to flake off and fubar it. at this point, this 'mod' doesn't seem to worth the hassle of installing it.

I agree that it is too much of a hassle, AscendantMax. And the flaking of the reflective housing and moisture getting into the light convinced me to forget about it. Well, that and the almost "zero tolerance" laws we have about neons and junk here in the great city of claremore.
getting pulled over by a maxima, now thats a hilarious thought, i almost want to do it to my friends, if it werent for the whole illegal thing. As for the missouri comment, its weird, my roommate works at autozone, and they sell all those colors that are supposedly "illegal" here, those stupid a$$ stores should be legally required to list what the illegal colors in their area are
i had strobes in my maxima in high school they were BIG bright ones i thinkthey cam from a police unit lol they were cool when we would all hang out by the bridges and stuff but that was like 3 years ago. i dunno about now lol no one evr pulled over for me lol i tried
