just got the alternator replaced and ......
now my dash lights turn on when i hit the brakes. i was wondering if this is an electrical issue.
This all stems back to a drive i did a month ago to dc. on the return trip about 20 minutes away from my house the alternator and brake light turned on in the dash. so alternator was replaced. anyone know whats up.
last but not lest i live in NYC so does anyone know where to go for this.

Sounds like something is wrong. I don't know if it has to do with the new alternator installation, but lets wait and see what the "experts" have to say.
As for the alternator places in NY, there isn't a bad Starter/Alternator rebuild shop here in Brooklyn... They rebuilt my alty for $120, and gave me a 6 month warrenty.. My power steering fluid was leaking all over the alternator(my fault), so the alty went bad a few months later but I came back, and they fixed it free of charge. The guy even coated the electrical connections in the alternator so it can take longer punishment from moisture till I could get the PS fluid leak fixed. Been running alty problem free for a year and a half now.
"ANCHOR REMANUFACTURING INC." 2574 Coney Island, between Neck Rd. & Ave. W (718) 375-3466
I would wait to see if you get some good advise here to your problem, otherwise give these guys a call and have them take a look.

Is it delivery? Or is it Digiorno? Oh sorry, thought this was the '20 questions' thread.
Best advice I can give, is to take it back to the place that put in the alternator and have it tested. Otherwise it can be a bunch of possible things from corroded ground terminals (batt, alt, starter), to dead cells in your battery, alternator not performing under load, etc...
Electrical is just one of those things that if you don't know where to start looking it might be worth it to spend a few bucks let someone diagnose it. Might save you from getting stranded too.
I personally have had similar, but not quite the same issues you have with the idiot gauge warning lights lighting up. I started with the battery, put in 6 new plugs, changed the distributor cap and rotor, checked the injectors for proper ohmage, cleaned all grounds, checked all hoses (a bad one can send funky signals to the ecu), etc... basically ruling things out. These were all things that had to be replaced, but they weren't necessarily at the root of the problem I was looking to solve. So what it was at the end of the day? -- I'm not entirely sure lol. Only that it appeared to subside and fix itself, it may have been a combination of things, but a magic rabbit never appeared immediately after doing anything specific.
Uh-oh. I'm starting to sound like Wiking with my jokes

I should have mentioned in my last post that checking the error codes is the first place I looked before I did any of the above, but the errors that were returned didn't help my particular problem. Having said that, if you can figure out how to check the codes on your ECU, it might help zero in on the problem.

1. "now my dash lights turn on when i hit the brakes. i was wondering if this is an electrical issue."
- rest in peace... IT IS "an electrical issue."
2. Are u dash lights gone?...and return when brake applied?
- short circuit in rear light assy, wrongly inserted wrong bulbs? ...or pins shorting. And dash fuse gone.
3. "the battery and brake light go on simultaneously."
- this is different from dash lights, right?
- batt light: your alt is not working, bad connections, grounding
- brake light: release hand brake...
for groundings check:

alternator problem
Hi Guys,
me too, I have problem with alternator, i bought my max. gxe 92 on the summer of 2001. last summer the alternator gave way. so i went to those garage that rebuilt alternator, cost me 345.00 canadian, alternator & battery.
i dont like the battery cuz it looks like those recyle one, but he wont gave me the warranty unless i changed the with new batt. come sept. i drove the car in lake george, nyk. about 350 km. going back to montreal, i saw battery warning light blinking, and then on permanently. luckily, i get to montreal in one piece, but not lucky enough to get back to garage where i bought my alternator and battery. the garage was blaming my car it was too old da.da. because they want me to pay again for the parts and labor. the battery was bone dry and the voltage regulator on the alternator was kaput. he fixed the alternator and changed the battery with another recycled. just last week, i used the car to drove for about 200 km. after a couple days, i saw the sympton, battery warning is on again. battery voltage is ok +12.1V but when you start the car, the voltage went down (11V) instead going up. its looks like charging is not working again. what could be the cause ?? reccycle battery or grounding ?? sori for the long story.
thanks in advance.

Weird thing is that these shops instant experts -globally- will never ever grasp this -first- thing = GND.
