VTC's worse now
#42
AFAIK nothing bad happens, and performance does not change. This has been my experience. My VTCs tick like mad, but the car itself runs fine, so I ain't losing one bit of sleep over it.
When people ask about the noise it makes, I just tell them my engine is always "in VTiCK"!

Umm, because there have been cases of the VTCs breaking apart and totally destroying an engine. And they DO make a difference in performance, its just that you become used to the disabled VTCs. When people put new/rebuilt VTCs in they notice an immediate difference from before.

I have read of maybe 2-3 since I've been on here.

Chalk up another one

hey guys just asking a ?....certain small aircraft have an external primer unit for the engines that pumps oil from the pan into the cylinders heads.....my ? is, is there any way to adapt this to help our aging cars…..machine small holes in the valve covers or heads…..just asking don’t flame me guys……

Dry sump lubrication? Sure. Expensive though. But a preluber might work. Thought about one for a few years
Just putting holes in the valve covers won't do anything. Has to be inside the oiling system. Which none of us know should be screwing with

Ahh, I forgot what they're called. It just stores about 1qt of oil under pressure and turns on just before start up. Then a few seconds later re-presureizes and shuts off. I think kits sell for around $160. Its supposed to make a huge difference on start up engine wear.
