Help!!!! Disobedient passenger window........

I rolled my window down today like I always do when I cruise; and as i get ready to lock her up when I go into my house, the passenger window won't go back up and all I hear is a click everytime I hit the button. This has happened numerous times in the past, but I would just play with the button for a couple of minutes and then it would roll back up. But i've been trying for the past 4 hours and it WILL NOT go up!!! Is it the regulator or the actual motor that has gone out?
I know most of you have had this problem, so what is it before I go crazy!!!!

it's probably your regulator, try holding the button down that raises it. if it is damp outside it will be difficult to raise your window. another thing you can do, is to turn the car off, turn in on and try the switch again.

I had a problem like that in my car, but my problem was one of the things that raises the window up broke, so i zip tied it all back together and it works like a champ.

I had a very similar problem in my car, but mine wouldnt go down, or up for that matter, whenever it decided to trick me and go down. But my problem was the master switch on the driver door (the panel that controls all the windows and locks for the car). I just went to the junk yard and got another one and put it in, and it still works today, and this was about a year ago or so. good luck

This same thing happened to all 4 windows in my 93' What will happen if it's your regulator is that it will fall down. Pretty easy fix. Can find it at numerous sites on the web. I purchased all 3 last year on e-bay. You shouldn't have to purchase a regulator with a motor. That will just increase the price of the fix, just unscrew the motor and put in on the new regulator. A little WD40 will loosen the screws.

I just got the window back up about 15 min. ago ; FINALLY!!!! I always thought that once a regulator goes bad, it stays bad and doesn't work on and off on it's own.

Here is a tip if your regulator is good and your switch is bad, plug a 12V lighter plug with wires into your cigarette lighter. Then take the switch out of the door and look at the wires coming out of it. Figure out which wires go to the regulator motor. Then hook up the two wires from the lighter and connect them to the regulator motor. If the window don't move up, reverse the wires. Works for me in an emergency if I can't get the window to go up.

If you got it to go up then chances are that its the switch. It happened in my car also. went down but not up. when i pushed the switch on the drivers side all I heard was a click on the pass side. I got a new switch on the pass side and it was fine.

pull the door panel and take a look at the regulator.

My buddy had the same problem a few years ago in his 300ZX. Sprayed WD40 into the button and it worked fine ever since then.

I use contact cleaner or a Q-tip soaked with rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts in the switch.

interesting tips. I'm gonna try to pull the switch off and see whats going on. I really hope that it's just not making good contact.
I take it that I don't have to pull the door panel off to get to the switches right?

Im pretty sure it's the switch as well.

BTW, I am currently having this exact problem on my drivers side window, except one or two tries gets it up. It all started right after I was doing some repairs on the door panel and it started raining very gently and the switch was out in the open. So I hid the switch from the rain, but I guess I was too late. A drop may have gotten in somewhere.

edit: No, you do not have to pull the whole door panel off to get to the switch.
