i'v done an axel replacement on my 4th gen auto. helping a buddy do his axeles on his 3rd gen 5 speed on saturday. any major differences or things i should look out for?

also how do i find out if his 5speed has an lsd?

 

the instructions on installing axles is in the stickies...I woudnt think there would be much difference but then again I have never done an axle on a 4th gen.

To find out if its a VLSD look on the firewall at the trans code if it ends in V then its VLSD. the VLSD only came in 92-94 SEs btw so if its not one of those then dont worry about looking at the code because it will not be unless he swapped in one.


To find out if the VLSD is working correctly...spin the tires with the car in the air. If the other tire spins the same direction as the tire you are moving then its VLSD if it spins the opposite way its not VLSD or its not working correctly.

 

3rd gen axle job is very similar to the 4th gen. you should be ok.
