we were trying to get a guy with a shaved trunk to send his trunk lid in for making mold.. but people were questioning if his car was ever in an accident and if his car is screwed up then all the lids made will be screwed up and crap like that...

it has always been difficult to get a group deal going with 3rd gen guys...

Tell me about it... I had the guy interested in making the fiberglass fenders. But couldn't get enough people interested. Oh well

I contacted Paradox, and the jist was "We will take on the cost of the mold and production if we receive a minimum of deposits to get this started (the number to be determined by the manufacturer)."

i am ready to send them pictures for quoting. i may even send pics of the doors and fenders disassembled to get quotes on those too.

actually, here is the full e-mail i received back:

"Are you looking to get a one-off item produced for yourself or to get a production of these?
We currently do not have any plans of mass producing these because of lack of interest.
There are a few things you can do.

- If you want one for youself, we need detailed pictures of the trunklid initally to get you an estimated quote. If you want to proceed from there, we need to have a trunklid sent to us to create the mold off of. This can be a rather costly project. Most molds cost $1-2000.
- If you want to undertake trying to get these mass produced, we need the detailed pictures and the trunklid still. We will take on the cost of the mold and production if we receive a minimum of deposits to get this started (the number to be determined by the manufacturer).

Let me know if this is something you want to pursue and if we can be of any assistance, thank you.

Sincerely,

Harry Liu
President
Paradox Systems, LLC
hliu@paradox-systems.com"

i have another max that i can sent parts from, but i do not know what shipping will be yet.

well thats because it fiberglass...who wants fiberglass now a days...everyone want CF...then again you wouldnt get enough people to buy CF fenders either

Actually on a Maxima safety is #1 for me. Its not a race car so light fenders dont matter to me. I would rather have the safety of the steel fenders that were designed to work with the rest of the car in an accident.

now adays it seems as if the majority of 3rd gen owners are high schoolers or early college kids and if they got 400-800 to blow on fiberglas fenders, cf hoods, trunks....they they are probably not driving 3rd gen maximas......i mean so many people come on here "like i got my car for $1000" and they are down with a group deal because they see that word DEAL but really they cant afford it. Im sure all the OGs know what im saying, its just that ive seen it with non car stuff too. but whatever.

You couldn't get enough interested because it wasn't a good idea

It was mostly a side thought when I was talking to the guy about making my hoodscoop. I didn't want one myself.

weight savings? are you kidding me?
if weight savings is a major concern then might as well gut the interior and leave one seat.

the general public buy CF parts for the look because i doubt any of you are really going for SCCA, IDRC, NHRA, etc etc....of course there are a few exceptions.

it took FOREVER to get a CF hood GD going...it'll probably take even longer for a CF trunk. we don't drive Carerra GTs.

i couldnt care less about the CF look, i'd honestly rather have fiberglass...the weight savings is what i'm interested in but since CF is 'trendy' so its more likely to get made than unpainted fiberglass

nah, I'm too busy to mess with producing fiberglass.
it's doable, but I won't be the one doing it
