ABS freaks out al the time, what to do?

All right, I'm frustrated, my ABS goes off when I back up turn and stop, when I take low speed sharp turns, other odd times. Should I change out all the fluid, and see how it goes or what. This scares me I don't want the brakes to go at the wrong time. Any ideas??

is it that the abs actually activates or does the light just stay on or flash a bit?

assuming that you're actually getting false abs activation -

the first things you'd want to try is to be sure that all four wheels are getting equal hydraulic pressure - but that's easier said than done - also raise each wheel and check for up/down and left/right movement - if the hub is loose well then there you go.

definitely look into the sensor - excitor gear set up
these are located at each wheel just behind the wheel mounting flange..
be sure to clean all the crud out with brakekleen or whatever. i believe the clearance between the teeth and the sensor is a max of 1 mil

let me know if you're getting any codes vs actually activation

same thing happened after the axle was changed. Sometimes it activates at every stop, other times the light just comes on. Code for me is 6-front right sensor, the same one with the new axle. I just been too lazy to look at it. In my case it doesn't affect my driving because after a minute of driving the light always comes on. I've heard that this could be caused by a dirty sensor. If the light ever does come on, try to get a code read on it.

well, if it started after you changed the axle, it could be that its A the wrong axel (no ABS gear) for B the sensor could be too far away now....

My light dosen't go off but the abs definately is going off. I can hear and feel it in the steering. I'm going to replace 100% of the brake fluid, rebleed and clean the sensors, that should, if nothing else take an afternoon.

Who ever chanced the axle didn't unbolt the abs sensor and stretched/damaged the sensor harness. Now you get to pay more for a new sensor than you did for the axle.

Or if you get lucky, you can find one in the boneyard.
