Opening trunk with key sets off alarm

Has anyone experienced their alarm going off when opening the trunk with their key when the alarm is set? I read the manual, and using my ignition key to open the trunk is supposedly going to deactivate my alarm, but this is not the case. I have to deactivate it from touch pad or unlocking the doors before i can open my trunk "quietly." Does anyone know what i'm doin wrong? Or am i reading the manual wrong? thanks

I have a similar problem with my '92SE. I just disconnected the alarm module; problem solved . . . . well somewhat.

Smtg is wrong, this case its the manual... the trunk keylock is tamperproof and any attempt to open starts the alarm. But then dont believe me as I dont have the same system u have.

I have the same problem on my car. It started around late 2000 and I just learned to live with it since then. It probably has to do with some electrical contacts in the trunk key cylinder.

On the GXE, it's not too bad as there's a keypad (so you don't have to open the door), but if I had this problem with an SE, I think it would drive me nuts (and get it fixed).

i can't use my key in the trunk.
I'm already used to opening the door and pushing the button to use my trunk.

I've got the same problem. I was going to ask whether or not you needed a different key to open the trunk (I just bought the car) but you answered my question.

Well on my 94 SE I can open the trunk without first using the key in the door. And it doesnt set the alarm off. I also have one key that opens the doors and trunk and turns the ignition.

If you look at the lock assembly, there should be a small black box with two thin black wires <- thats the key sensor. it could be disconnected or worned out now....start troubleshooting there.

Mine was the same way when I bought it. Squirted some WD-40 in the cylinder and it's good as new.

did this on my old GXE, theres some sort of sensor (or something) that shuts the alarm off after opening the trunk with the key, its behind the carpet on the trunk lid IIRC

edit: looked in my FSM and theres a "trunk lid unlock switch" but it shows it as if its under the rear deck, start around there, or like i said check under the carpet by the lock

My car does the same thing if I lock it with the keyless entry! Are you locking it with the keyless entry? It is just easier for me to put in my code and then press 2 to pop the trunk. But it will also make you alarm go off if you leave the trunk open for some time after you lock the car with the keyless entry!

I think i have it the worst of all of you. I need to unlock my doors with the keyless entry. If i do it with the key it sets the alarm off and there's really no way to turn it off except using the keypad. I've learned to live with it. But it does suck when I have to explain it to people when they borrow my car. Also once I was driving and my friend opened the door which set off the alarm. So it was going off while i was driving that sucked, had to pull over and put in the code. Anyone know of any fixes for my situation??

it seems like the trigger from your alarm sets it self back up right after u disarm it. what system do u have hooked up? also i would post in the electrical forum for much better assistance.
