...must be hidden under intake. In VGE that 3/4" hose starts from leftmost rear corner. Gotta wait until VE people wake up... try FSM as/when it comes online.

edit: its at farthest leftmost corner. FSM page EF-337

I did more looking and found an L shaped fitting coming out of the backside of the intake manifold. This elbow is located between the EGR valve and another elbow that has a hose connected to it that goes to the brake booster.

While looking at thiese items, I noticed the vaccuum hose leading to the EGR valve was cracked, so I pared back the hose a little and reapplied the hose. This seems to have cured my Idling problem.

Now if the incesant tapping would stop and the voices would go away I would be OK!

Apparently The Cracked line was NOT the culprut of the erratic idle. I will find and replace the PCV valve.

Here is the location of the PVC valve on the VE engine. (If you can make heads or tails of this pic)

• Inspect plug wires and replace if bad—or just replace them
• Replace all filters to include fuel filter
• Do the Seafoam treatment a couple of times to clean engine
• Check resistance of fuel injectors
• Drain, flush and properly refill coolant
• Flush brake and clutch fluid
• Look into replacing both the clutch master and slave cylinders (total cost of parts is < $50.00)
• Replace PCV Valve
• Replace all vacuum hoses
• Clean throttle body.
• Inspect upper and lower ball joints
• Inspect CV boots along with steering bellow boots
• Inspect all bushings in the front and rear suspension
Thanks for the list, I'll be printing this out and checking things off. For the most part everything on the car appears to be in fairly good condition...considering the age. I had an engine flush and oil change this weekend and that appeared to quite things down considerably, although not completely. The upon inspecting my car afterwards I noticed the smell of gas after revving the engine. I found a very small leak (whether in the line or tank) at the rear of the car which drips on the rear sway bar.

Indeed. I am definately going to need that list when i pick up my car tomorrow. The car has a new engine (w/ 69k mi. on it), and it has 135k on the body. I was getting horrible mileage with the previous engine (15-17mpg average), so i hope that going off of that list would help me out a bit.

Anyone know if you can get a PCV hose at the parts store or is it a dealer item?
