vent problem

I have a/c but for some reason my hot/cold lever wont move over past the mid point on the temp scale. Ive taken the dash apart and still cant find the cause of this. I cant use my a/c right now. Anybody know what the problem could be?

The ctrl wire stuck? Maybe the flap it adjusts is stuck as seals worn? Try exercising and lubricatin the flap (blu at the pic) adj wire...

Also a suggestion is that try moving the lever while the fan switch is set to the OFF position. I don't know why, but when my fan is set the maximum position, the heat/cold lever won't budge until I move the fan switch to a lower position.

I had this same problem. Most likely the plastic track that the slider rides on has cracked due to age and is catching. Replace the whole thing with one froma junkyard or ebay.

I have to do the same thing. I wondered if it was a bent control wire, but haven't taken mine apart to look at. For now, I just move the fan switch to the left before changing the temperature setting.

Well, I tried everything suggested, but the thing still wont move to the cold side. I took it out and examined the unit and the cable and could see nothing wrong. Maybe next, I'll just take out everything in there ,but not today. Oh well, I aint driving it anyway.

To me that assy looka PITA: explode whole dash for one flap! nooo... I would try to take cooler unit off ? (is it feasible?) to access it. If not, maybe? take a solder and carver big enough hole to the side to access the flap and its mech. Then close the hole with silicon or whatever. Dunno, not there yet...
