I heard from a junkyard guy that even though they are different, the post 8/89 calipers are backwards compatible with the previous production models, yet the pre-8/89 are not compatible with future calipers...sounds like a normal and correct thing. Backwards compatibility is, of course, the wonder of excellent engineers in any field. So my question is, are the pads backwards compatible too? Carparts.com says pre-8/89 take 10-15days to order and cost about $23. Then they say that post-8/89 pads are in stock and cost about $19. They're the same model type (Metal-Lux) and I would assume I can just order the less expensive post 8/89 pads for my car, which was made in 2/89. If not, i need to know because as soon as I finish dinner, I'm gonna click BUY =)

dude, it's $4. don't worry about the differences.

do you know how much money you'll waste in gas, big gulps, cheeseburgers and slurpees before you wear out that set of rear pads?

Just buy the ones you know will fit and wait it out.
