Anyone Know a Good Place to Buy Lowering Springs

Hey,

I have KYB GR-2 struts on my max. I wanna get it lowered. I have a friend thats is gonna install them for $150. I just need to get the springs. Anyone know a good site to buy them and wat brand I would need to get so that my struts dont get to much wear. I have 93 GXE

Thanks

Well if you don't want your struts wearing out... stock springs. But Eibach 1.2" would be the next choice if you want to lower. www.shox.com has some decent prices. I can't remember if internetautomar sells them or not

He has them the cheapest. Which should I buy? will the $179 intrax work with my kyb's pretty well?

That's a friend? 3 hours of labor would put that at 50 bucks an hour. Nice rip. Find a cheaper friend and you'll have more money for mods.

I wouldnt go puttin lowering springs on you car with shocks that are not made for it. If your shocks are made for stock ride height then putting lowering springs with them will wear them out prematurely.

Well the shops wanted 300 for the install on them. So 150 I think is fair. So these will screw my struts up? How long will they last? I had them for 2 yrs now still nice firm ride

No they wont screw your struts up, that guy just doesnt know what he is talking about. The intrax will be harder on your KYBs because it is a decent drop, but a fair amount of people run that set up and have no problems with it.

They way i looked at it was that i wasnt going to be doing anything like super crazy with my car, maybe a few auto-x races and such so i went for something low and inexpensive. I personally didnt see a need for really expensive springs. I bought sprint springs and they are doing really good.

The Eibachs don't offer the lowest drop, but if you want the best performance bang -- go with the Eibachs. I have them on GR2's and they are great.
(old pic before drop - don't let the gap mislead you heh heh)

I'll throw my vote for the eibachs too- had them on for about a year now and they really eat up the twisties around here. Strut wear shouldn't be much of a problem, as long as you don't bottom the springs out too much.

Both the KYBs and Tokicos have been known to blow seals with just the eibach set. And it only gets worse with the lower springs you get. So I hope you have your receipt for the struts.
