Alarm system install help

Hi there i got a few questions about installing a car alarm.
What kinda stuff would i need to install a alarm system by myself. Im thinking about getting a basic DEI system, and i called up the store that sells it. He says that it doesnt come with a wiring diagram, and if i want to get the keyless entry to work, i would have to purchase an additional relay for $25. $25 for a relay???????????
So can i just get a generic relay thats the same type? How do i find out what type of relay it is?
Also any other suggestions from others who have done an install would be greatly appreciated.

No schema? Junk class, I suggest buy smtg else. Switching relay, max 3$, I suggest do shoppin somewhere else.

Multimeter, electronics solder iron (NOT those sewer lead heaters!), electronics solder, wire stripper, self vulcanizing rubber tape. Goto RadioS.

"Also any other suggestion" is: NEVER use std electric tape, ONLY self vulcanizing rubber tape. Point 2.: Read Craigs pages...

I hope forum gurus add this info need: if I say that smtg to u, will not hlp... I know a product NOT to buy; luckily its not sold in US.(Just buy a well known product, there must be some articles which compare these products)

You cannot know if no schema. In such case I buy:
- one relay that is closed and opens as energized
- one relay that is open and closes as energized
Next - test/play
