Every now and then my car will just jump up to 1500 rpm and the only way to get it to stop is shutting off the car and starting it again. The throttle cable isnt sticking and i cleaned my tps and it still does it?????

Cold idle speed it supposed to be high. As the coolant temp goes up the idle speed will decrease. Mine starts and idles at about 1500, and if I let it sit there and idle it would settle down after about 2 mins, but I don't let it idle for more than 15-30 secs and I just drive normal.Originally Posted by Slamnasty
I currently have this problem, though only when the car has been started cold. Fix duly noted.
yeah mine has nothing to do with be cold...u can expect that with any car....i can be driving for 20 min with perfect idle and than buMMMMMMMMM 1500 rpm's.....I will check that tps connector again i guess
