CPS and octane level

If one were to advance their timing all the way on the CPS would they have to put in octane booster or a much higher octane gas, or is there a limit and it doesn't make a difference?

funny.....I asked a similar question 2 months ago, except I added that I already have the JWT ECU. Anyhow, According to most of the VE enthusiasts, you can go as far as 19 degrees BTDC and always have to run 91+ octane. However, Aaron92 i think runs 29 or so degrees timing on his VE, but that's running 100 octane in his fuel.
So to answer your question, you can PRETTY MUCH go as far as you want, you just need to add the right amount of octane to go along with it. However you can go too far in advancing the timing and actually loose power.

True, beyond optimal timing and actually also loose engine. Just better be sure u know what u do. For average driver: don do it. Do how FSM says - be on safe side: 15deg. +/-2.

I would not go beyond 20deg. regardless of octane; with this engine, with this knowledge as my barn is not even half-full of max engines.

No..Meaning advancing the timing from the standard 15 deg. to 20 deg...Or +5 deg. advancement.

On the VGE pulley theres Top Dead Center TDC, and marks between five degrees. All references are to TDC. I drive VGE with 17degrees advance and 95 octane, knock sensor bypass. Note that VGE has got 1:8.5 while VE has 1:9 compression ratio.

Check out for the maintenance manuals, links on my web page.
PM Jeff, Danny and/or Craig what they suggest to do with u VE ignition...

Are u sure your knock sensor is functional? If its not, your ign is always retarded some 10 degrees... It may be reliably tested with Nissan Consult tester, or DIY bypass resistor. (Rent or Buy($180) that tool @ AUTOZONE)
