I really want to upgrade my stock VE gauge bulbs, without going the LED route! I've tried taking off the blue rubber caps on the stock bulbs, It makes them noticeably brighter, BUT much much more yellow looking. IMO the brighter looks better but I dont like the yellow color. I want to get the brightest & whitest 194 Bulbs, that will still be white without the little blue caps. There are tons of 194's on CarDomain but I don't know which ones are the better/best bulbs? Someone Please Please Help Me!!! Here are some links, let me know which ones are best! Also feel free to give more links if you got the bulb Im looking for.

Here is a link to a White 194 LED. Is it plug and play? Will it work better/be brighter than the other Non-LED 194's?

I've Been Dying To Know Which Bulbs To Get! THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

the part number to the bulbs are 194. some have r or b at the end of them, that is just for the color (red, blue) the bulbs are pretty universal in many cars. to change the color, you must get new bulbs, replacing the bluish cover on origional bulbs may bot be worth it. i dunno, i got mine from advanced auto parts, you can get them from pepboys too and places like that.

Just get EuroLite 194s. That's what I have in my corner lamp, and those are brighter.

VG = 125 speedo and VE = 145 unless you swap.

This was almost 2 years ago

took the blue covers off and colored the bulbs with a sharpie

they were way to dim, took them out a few days later

Red honestly has the best results visually.

edit: 127k soo long ago. 500mile tanks with the Fidanza

spare set of stock bulbs colored with a blue sharpie.

better to just buy some really bright bulbs (people seem to like the PIAA's) or LED's

Actually I was going to throw a cold cathode behind the gauges, you can fit a 12" in there but it's tough.

Yes, there is a way. I went ahead & got some bright white bulbs from Super Autobacs, & wow! they look soo damn good! They have a real bright white look with a very slight blue hue to them. I paid $15 for all 4 bulbs & they are a good amount brighter then stock. I'll post some pics soon.
