well if you're replacing the rotor anyway... beat it off. When I did mine, the stupid rotor stripped 3 bolts.

btw... I "think" (no quoting) that the size was a 10mm coarse thread.

Pretty sure its the same size as the 10mm ones that hold 1/2 of the car together. I believe I pulled one off a radiator mount and used it to get the rotor off.

For those who are confused, many rotor manufacturers put threads on the hat of the rotor. If the rotor gets stuck on, you thread a bolt into them and it "pushes" the rotor off of the hub.

If the rotor is rusted to the hub (like mine were) it'll strip the bolts.

It took me 10 mins with a 5lb sledge to get my front right off. If that's any indication of how rusted they were. The rears came off easy, didn't even need the bolts. Front left was pretty easy. The bolts actually pulled that one off.

Should have seen the people's faces when I used the sledge (I was in a hobby shop) A guy came up and said "you know, you'll ruin your rotors that way" I just pointed at the Brembos sitting on the ground in the box

Supposedly the sledgehammer method isn't good for the CV joints either, buit I know lots of people who use it, and its not like you change the rotors once a month, so meh.

Sledge is no more harmful than driving over potholes and offroading. Or dumping the clutch and burning out.

Now maybe sledge directly on the joint.... hmmm

That would have to be a seriously old rotor in a seriously salty environment to get stuck on like that. I live and work on the oceanfront and have never seen that.
Still, a few sharp raps with a ball peen, or drive a wooden shim between the rotor and hub; should pop right off.

Best of luck

I live in the great state of SOUTH DAKOTA. They love to dump liquid salt on the roads at 1st sign of snow. Plus at the time the car had over 100,000 miles, and were the original rotors

I WANT OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check out this site for big brake kits.
www.mattblehm.com

As for the brembos. Mine weren't blanks they are slots. In fact mine are even a little more aggressive than the average ones that you can buy from internetautomar.
www.internetautomart.com But they are still stock size. Those are all I need though. I get braking performance out of those rotors alone.

Yup, just tried doing my rear rotors and man, they are STUCK solid. I tried using liquid wrench/steel brush around the center and hammering the sides and back but they did not even move. Will try the screw thing tonight. I did my front ones last week and I had to use a large puller to get them off. In the process I busted threads on one brand new puller and had to get another one to finish the job... PITA I tell you... Yes, I live in Canada and got lots of salt last winter, and to make things worse, since I had winter rims/tires on, the center of the rim was exposed so the rotors received nice salt and water treatment :-)

zinc or black coating is for the rotor hat and rotor edge. they are non friction surfaces that usually rust. it's not a custom item...almost all on line place sells zinc plated rotors.

chrome plate? are you kidding me?

biggest BBK...how big is your wallet? you can prob work a 13" rotor in there.

18's front and 20's back....PICS???

I use standard rotors and a LOT of anti-seize (Loctite graphite) around the central mounting area and wheel studs :-)
