JWT ECU on a 91 SE 5spd

Has anyone done this upgrade on a VG motor? I was wondering how much of a difference it actually makes, also, has anyone added JWT cams to a VG?

Sorry if this has already been discussed a million times...

Eric

I think about 20hp with 91+ octane, really just depends on your mods though, they all compliment each other. Cams would probably give you 20 as well, depends on the grind.

20hp only with the sun hitting the JWT sticker after being applied at a 90* angle on the rear quarter window

OK, so 8hp on the ecu... I do have a full 2.5 warpspeed exhaust, stillen cone filter, is that going to make a difference? Can I get a serious response on the benefits of the cams?

depending on your engine and what not id say you might have gained 16hp(i pulled this from mid air, there are some cool things in mid air, check it out sometime).....but you wont really know til you dyno it.

Cams will improve the top end. I have a Dinan ECU in mine. Noticeable gains but I honestly couldn't tell you how much hp. Never had it dynoed with the ECU. I don't think doing basic mods to the VG, especially an auto, is really worth the $. In addition the ECU, I have a Wsp Y-Pipe, intake, and ground kit. Even with that, I still got pulled on by minivans. $$$ for the JWT ECU just seems like a waste when you will still be quite slow.

Are you driving an automatic? I have a 91 SE 5spd. Its slow but it is still alot of fun, and the handling is miles ahead of my old 95 maxima. This car isn't about all out speed, its about making a 90* turn at 50 mph with the groceries in the back...lol

if your going to do a ecu....... regardless of brand. get all the mods that you plan to do then do the ecu. dont be like me. i got a ecu and now i plan to boost the car so i have to either pay to reprogram my ecu or i might just buy the zemulator. to bad your not a manual, sell you mine for good price.

Yeah. I am a manual. What mods did you have when you installed the chip?

Is it the JWT ecu?

Yeah, I'd also say the ecu is one of the last mods to get.

dump the poop charger and get a CAI, also a UDP is a worthy mod.

all you need is an impact gun, some have used electric ones and were succesful. You many want to take the opportunity to replace the seal behind the pulley, since they typically leak ($2). You can also replace your drive belts.
