MAF wire question

MAF wire question

OK, i have a 91' se and i am doing some intake work. I saw this engine pic and i was like wtf.


I can't get my maf past the battery, how can i extend my maf wire so i can get my intake up like that?

Just splice in some wire on the maf harness.

Is that easly done? ( i can solder well) I thought one of the wires in that bundle was similar to cable ( tv) wire which, would be hard to do corectly.

Well, its not. I was right one of the wires is like cable wire. It has a center wire with heavy shielding around it. Around that shielding is like a wire mesh. Then over that is just the rubber. I think if i cut into that it may interfear wityh the signal. i am considering the wsp cai but its on the pricy side.

that thing your talking about has 3 or 4 wires you need to extend inside of it

poke around, I believe there is a red and green wire in there aswell but it's been over a year

The MAF in the pic is more suspect to vibration (=damage) than stock. Otherwise nice setting...

I'd do extension for the shield (bare steel mesh) also.
