Is SE and 5-speed indicated in VIN?

Here is a sample VIN.
JN1EJ01P8NT104694

How do I determine model year?

How do I determine SE?

How do I determine Auto vs. 5-speed manual?

Now that I've wasted an hour going on a snipe-hunt reading worthless unorganized FAQ...

What is the answer?

If most of you guys took the time to notice my screen name, I own a 1984 Maxima. I am shopping for a Maxima SE with 5-speed for my girlfriend. Your sarcastic remarks make me want to buy a Volvo instead. The folks on the Volvo forums have been much more helpful...

Thanks internetautomar. That is exactly what I was looking for. When a person is shopping for a car, he doesn't have time to waste scrolling thru unfamiliar posts.

I have never heard of http://vin.stronghold.com/ -- Useful site, thanks!!

The VIN is listed in cars.com and autotrader.com. I don't have the ability to open up the hood and look at the plate on the firewall. People don't always know what they are selling -- but the VIN doesn't lie.

JN1EJ01P8NT104694

JN1 - Japan Car
E - VE30DE
J0 - ???
1 - 4-door sedan
P - Automatic/Passive Belts
8 - Check Digit
N - 1992
T - Oppama
123456 - Serial Number

So, I can't determine SE from VIN.
So, I can't determine 5-speed from VIN.

But using, http://vin.stronghold.com/, I can...

Hey, why didn't vin.stronghold work on this one? It tells me the car is a GXE, GLE, and a SE. It tells me the car is auto and 5-speed.

it only works in cases where the manufacturer put the data in the VIN.
BTW the 92 vin does tell you if it's an SE or not. but only because of the motor

Ah!!! I understand now. The 4th position of VIN has
"E" - only SE have the VE30DE engine.

Thanks again about the tip on using http://vin.stronghold.com/. I just learned that Carfax.com is able to decode VIN, as well. However, Carfax has a monthly fee.
