noise from front of car

recently i have been noticing a deep whup whup whup sound coming from the front of the car when the car is in motion. I was wondering if it could be alignment issue or off balance tires or what? my steering wheel is not centered that why i guessed maybe an alignment issue. what are your thoughts?

well it could be belt separation on the tire, or an allignment issue......

First things first take a look at the tires and see if theres any odd wear that would indicate an allignment issue.
second, if there is nothing that appears to be wrong with the tires then check to see if the sound goea away or changes when making a turn.....if so then wheel bearing is a poss.

Good luck

- I suppose not tire related. All Nissans I have got, intermittently do this. If its constant (and not in the end), must do a checkup.

- sapp: Tire separation is a death serious problem. If you have those crap re-threaded tires, replace without asking. If u cannot afford, definitely walk! The sound description above fits this problem, dont know any other issues than tires which could make such. If u want to be sure, swap noisy tire to rear and listen; u might survive if it explodes in the rear...

Does it sound like a helicopter? If so, make sure your lug nuts are tight!!

All possible suggestions above, but if it only happens when you hit 35 mph and up, it might be a wheel bearing.

Start simple, and inspect the tire closely. I've had these types of noises before where it turned out to be either a nail or good-sized pebbles embedded into the tire near the shoulder, and so when it rolls, it makes noises when it hits the pavement. Good luck.

I have a noise in the engine compartment...

It only makes this clunk clunk sound with some viberations when I first start the car ( like when the starter is engadged and the motor is trying to start to run under its own power)

The car runs great other than that but it is kind of puzzling!

Can anyone tell me if this is normal or if not what is wrong thanks!

I know the truth hurts but ......i was hoping it wasnt that !!

Have you had an experince with a broken motor mount?

How many mounts are there on the motor ?

Are they hard to fix? Are they expensive to buy?

Where are the motor mounts located?

Sorry for all the q's but any answers would be great!

Thanks Jeff!

Does it damage the motor to run and drive it with a motor mount broken!

(If it does just lie and say it dossent hurt it any) Just kidding!

How much do motor mounts cost? Are they hard to fix?

Is it most likly just one mount broken or both.......

Thanks for all your quick replies! Thanks tripleGmax and Jeff!

Driving around with a broken motor mount puts extra wear on the other one's that are not broken, not to mention stress on the exhaust system with all the extra movement.

While you are at it, read the whole manual.

Try having a helper start the engine a few times while you are under the hood looking and listening where the clunk is coming from....

If your hearing the clunking at startup only then thats when you need to be paying attention under the hood with a helper starting it and stoping it over and over again.....

Are there any indications that you can feel while driving the car down the road that would tell you that the engine mount is broken?

how are you going to fix it when you dont know what a motor mount looks like

also if you start the car and pop the hood, give it some gas and see if the engine moves too much, thats a good indicator its broke. ive seen Alex_v's wrecked maxima and his broken mounts were very easy to see. but that was probably because he ran head first into a dump truck

what is to much...? An inch ---- foot ( just kidding)

How much should the motor move without broken motor mounts?

Why do u say that i dont know what they look like ( i have seen them on my car before but didn't connect them to being the motor mount in my mind) ( btw there is a pic a couple of posts up)
