Speed sensors for different years

My '90 has a tranny from a '91 SE m/t. Speed sensor is dead. I went to Orielly and got a sensor for a '90 manual, but it was about 1cm shorter than the one in my car and the shaft was too short for the gear that was on mine. Did they change the speed sensor design from 90 to 91? Or is someone making a mistake here?

i though all the sensors for non-vlsd 5spd 3rd gens were all the same

mayby you got a sensor for an auto

go back and take out your dead sensor in the parking lot and bring it with you into the parts store to match it up

Thats what I did. They found a pic of the part in the book but it wasnt listed under manual 3rd gen maximas in the part catalog. We'll see when it comes in tomorrow.
