My speedometer pegs to the max most of the time now in my 90 GXE which in turn causes my odometer not to work. I heard there was a way to test the vehicle speed sensor to see if that was the problem, but I don't know how. It is located behind the oil filter. My Haynes manual is no help. Any help out there? Thanks.

Just to let anyone reading the thread know. Its usually not the speed sensor. It's usually a bad speedometer cluster (and good luck finding one now).

Re: Speedo fine at 55mph.

Then anything past that is 5 mph off.
Example if I'm doing 65mph on the speedometer GPS has me pegged at 60. Doing 80mph has me at 75. Before 55mph it's okay. Any suggestions? 92 se 5 spd

That happens if you have bigger wheels/tires. ACmax, are your clusters for the SE? I want to a spare one. the little motor which turns the trip and odometer dials have failed on mine

205/55/15 .according to the tire calculator I should be off 1 mph not 5 mph. And only when going past 55. Strange
