Good question. I'm about the put a poper on my trunk. But I was going to run an aftermarket one right on the lid. Shouldn't be too hard.

you might have been talking about this but.... have you checked in your trunk there is a lever type thing right under were the trunk lid latches. if it is in the wrong possition the realeas lever will not work, only the key. i think i slides up and down.

Alas, its doing this slide-down all ways on its own... I had to prop it up with a piece of foam, now it stays always up.

The reason (?) was that the veery reliable Nissan mechs should not be able to peek & select your items from trunk (=steal more), while being presumably (lol) serviced. Originally in u car there was one red service key for them, that key does not fit the trunk lock.

Ok, I have a similar problem...

I have a 92 SE with the electronic release... i press it and the trunk goes *thunk*. I can turn the key in the trunk and nothing happens.

Last week, both/either methods of opening the trunk worked. I have now removed everything from behind the arm rest in the back seat, so I can fit one arm and my head through, hoping to reach the Cancel Switch, in case it's flipped.

No luck. I can't reach that far, especially over a golf bag. Any tips?

Take the rear seats out....Start with the bottom cushion, get your fingers under the cushion in the front when meets the carpet and start yanking....Then the part that you lean against has a screw on each edge, down low....Then in the middle of the seat where the armrest is....

Took the rear seat out, about 2 hours of poking and prying... seems like the lock was just jammed. once I got it opened once, it's been working fine.

To keep this from happening again, I thought about giving the locking mech a proper lube. Graphite? Or does anyone have a better suggestion?

Graphite or Whit lithium grease works fine...
