As long as it is running ok,then don't worry about it...

To settle your mind,go out and pop the hood, check all the fluids, visually inspect the wiring for obvious problems....Yadayada...

I've got the same problem, but not just when I take off fast. Looked at it before and noticed the power steering hose leaking, so we thought I might be smelling power steering fluid burning up then coming through the vent, but we replaced the hose, now no more leaking, but still a burning smell.

Everyone in the thread experiencing the burning smell....Check your valve covers for oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold.....

yeah I get this burning smell when I take off from a light also. I usually get the RPMs to about 5k and then I let out of the clutch. am I doing something wrong? someone once told me that I needed to get the RPMs all the way to the red line and then let out of the clutch. does that sound correct? I wish my car didnt smell like burning rubber all of the time.

Im sorry Im just kidding. I couldnt help myself.

everything will be fine you just burned a little rubber off of your tires.

It may be the valve covers. Check them, they usually pretty easily drip oil all over the exaust manifolds. Its pretty easy to solve just unbolt the upper intake manilfold for the front cover, and unsnap wires and move them for the rear cover. Use some RTV and its set. All 3 of my max's had this problem. first one had 166K and only first bank was leaking, 2ed had 187K and both were leaking a little more and the 3rd had 217K and both were leaking pretty bad.

I'd guess most max's have this little leak, but its not noticeable drop in oil over the course of an oil change.

i have the same problem when i rev my VG to 6,200 PRM.....it smells like burning oil...if u ever spilled oil on the engine and it started smoking, thats the exact smell i smelled....try it if u want, put a drop of oil on your motor and drive your car for a minute or two then stop somethwew, when it starts smoking, smell it...is that the same smell???? it is for me, but only when i red-line it

Van- check your valve covers if you havn't yet. They leak a decent amount of oil some times, and it sounds like the high rpms shake your covers and oil spills out. Any way just something to check.

Definitely. Non burning fuel caused my cat to be filled with soot. That was Maximized Skunk Stink!

ECU was happy w/o any problem sign: cap, rotor, REAL wires, plugs and harness maint ended that stink; howTo collection here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/1
Mainly that was problem for hondas (vehiculos behind), vi$a, as the stink did not come into cabin. I suppose this may ruin the cat.

Another is rusted hand brake wire; brake stick$, drags mpg down: touch stinking rear rims, burn u hand.

The gas coming out from my exhuast is so smell that I don't want to step out of the car, because I have a clogged fuel injector.

I get the burning smell too, but mine was because of the crappy clarion amp for the rear speakers, had my pioneer 4way 6's off it really loud, now that i disconnected the amp and have tha speakers off the head unit, theres no more burning smell..
