car dies....pretty funny

well im driving down the highway, doing god knows what speed ( no one on freeway ) and suddenly the max shuts off..........first i thought i blew my tranny all the way (its slipping), then i thought it couldnt be my tranny so i thought my timing belt (brand new) so it couldnt be that..... all it was, it was my wire from my coil pack to my distributor cap came off..... i was so pissed when it just died like that, then it was pretty funny because of how simple it was.....should i get new wires or not???? they look new and arent original because the spark plug boots do not hang on them little things on the block.

i'd get new wires, but only if you have future problems.. few weeks ago i was coasting on the off ramp and the car died putting an end to the night of transmission hell i was having. tried to restart the car after coasting into a parking lot and there was not sign of fuel trying to ignite. belt has only has 12k miles on it but i was worried that i had overtightened the belt(s) when replacing, and crank sprocket had busted off which is supposedly a somewhat common problem with these engines. the transmission had been making clunking and clacking sounds all night, so i thought it was probably the sprocket clanging against stuff, thought it was doomed but after getting the car towed back home, i realized it was just the eng. control fuse blowing because of the transmission problems. anyway, it's easy to jump to conclusions when you're not getting any ignition what so ever. i had a 93 escort that died when coasting into the parking lot at work, first thing i figured was the timing belt and the first thing i felt after sticking my finger underneath the timing belt cover was a torn belt. luckilly they're non interference motors, so i just dug in, put a new belt on and started it right up. there would be some damage on these engines though. nice to hear about your quick fix.
