"fill-in car"

HEY guys, as you know the tranny in my max is dead and i cannot afford a $2000 ve 5 spd with 80,000 miles around me, so i am gonna drive a 1994 nissan altima for now with over 200,000 miles. when i get my tranny fixed that car will be sent to the junk yard, im gonna go with the $1200 tranny place when i get enough money to. the altima was free so that is my "fill in car" for now. Doug

man, a VE 5-speed with 80k for $2k. Hard to pass that up...too bad you can't come up with the funds.

Good luck with the tranny. If the Altima still runs and drives, you should still be able to get a few hundred bucks for it, instead of sending it to the bone yard.

a close friend of mine has a 94 altima. it has 215k on it and it still runs great. I would sell it if I were you. who knows it might have another 100k left in it or even more.

Both of you beware if it's at a charity. Usually there's a good reason someone decided to give it away for a tax break instead of trying to sell it.

My mom works at a dealer-only auto auctions and the only people that buy those charity cars are junk yards and those really shady dealers.

But every once-in-a-while you come across one that belonged to some old lady that died and that's just where she wanted it to go.

If either of you is seriously interested, request a mechanic to check it out. Your mechanic. Someone you trust.

thats what i was hoping that the old lady died or something and the husband donated it or something, which might tell me it was taken care of and not beaten...holpefully but if i get enough money ill go look at it.
