Trans Problem (Please Help)

My car has troubles. 1993 SE w/AT . I'm driving along at a regular pace all of a sudden the engine races up and I feel no power increase it's like it went into neutral or something. I usually have the rocker switch in the middle position. Sometimes when this happens the P light starts flashing. My mechanic already told me that I have to replace an injector on my engine. I think this is a totally independant problem. Anybody know what it could be????

I dont know what it is. I know what it could be. For Tranny Writeup Click on http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/15

ECU & TCU play together. Certain chain of effects input serie may cause ECU to command TCU safe mode: third gear, 2.2krpm limit, feels loss of life. Start by Repair of the injector.

check your shifter bushings. It could be worn and gone then your shifter happened to fall into neutral position. It happend to mine once and a new bushing worth of $2 fixed it.
Another posibility could be intake vacuum leak. check carefully the vacuum hoses there.
Start looking at these cheapest and easiest things first.
Good luck.

I think it's an electrical problem. The sensors like Wiking's writup suggests is probably the problem. Revolution sensor is # 1 on my list. Thanks Wiking. I'm going to do the self diagnosis tommorow to see what light stay on longer. I got my money on the revolution sensor.

I let off the gas and the RPMs come down and I press on it again and it's normal. But I can't climb hills well because I think there is a higher demand on the injectors also and the trans will hold in 1st past 3000 and not shift up. So the car is a dog right now. But I remember the days when I could easily get the car up to 125. 75-85 and I'm lucky. It has to be flat ground or downgrade.

Measure also TPS; TCU (trans ctrl unit) uses that as input to gear change, see p6.
