once it's started, there's not much you can do.

about all you can do otherwise is to carefully use a razorblade flat against the paint to remove any that's peeling up, then scuff-sand the area and spray it with some clear- enough to 'glue down' the peeling edges and seal it off to help it keep from separating.

If that doesn't work, then you get to repaint your car. :\

You could try to use clear fingernail polish to seal the ends of the peeling paint. But other than that, you can't really stop it. It's probably from a poorly done repaint and either the surface wasn't prepped or the base and/or clear is failing.

Not without screwing up the metallic base coat (if that's the case) under it. Plus if the base and/or clear is failing it will just peel somewhere else.

I agree. Once the peeling starts there is not much that can be done. I have the same problem with my maxima, with the CC peeling off on the hood. Get a paint job if it bothers you too much, or else, do what I do, ignore it and enjoy the ride.

It has just started a little nickel sized spot on the hood and I thought I should handle now before it gets out of hand! This is the only spot the clear coat is peeling and I wax regurly and I have clayed the car (it has good paint) what did i do wrong this is the worst thing(clear coat peeling)that i hoped detailing and waxing and cleaning the paint would prevent ! I will try razor to cut the peeled clear coat then buy some clear lacqer to cover it Any great clear coats in a rattle can ??

Thanks Guys
