Trans goes again

This past Feb. I had the transmission in my 91 SE rebuilt. I found a reputable shop here in Santa Ana, CA. They went thru the whole thing. New planetary, rebuilt converter, new solenoids, new mounts, rebuilt kit, they even did some kind of mod where they drilled out a feeder hole on the valve body which produced firmer, quicker shifts. Total price with a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty came to $2,100. The shop owner assured me that this was the last trans this car will ever need. It had 216,000 miles btw, when I brought it in. Since Feb. I have put close to 20k miles on it. On Thursday I went to Best Buy with my friend. When I came out I noticed that upon accelerating from a stoplight it would jerk and go. Shifts were still perfect. I then stopped to get somethin to eat. When I came out of food place it would still do the jerk from stoplight. I turned the first corner and when it went to shift into 3rd gear the engine just free-revved. After that I could only drive it in 2nd gear. With the shifter in Drive it would just slip. With the shifter in 2nd it will take off in second and stay in second and drive ok. There was no signs of it goin AT ALL. Also when I'm at a light and I take my foot off the brake, the car kinda shutters when it moves. I dropped the car off at the trans shop on Friday, they said they would take care of it. They didn't want to speculate on what it could be. Luckily there's still 4k miles left on the warranty. I probably won't get it back till after Thanksgiving weekend. Any ideas?

be happy that it's under warrenty and you don't have to worry about it i would seriously disconnect the speedo so it won't register the milage for the next year, just in case they screw you over, and it goes out again after the next 4k.

that is an excelent idea or get a spare out of a parts car so you can drive with a speedo but not put miles on the real one

for 2100 they are gettign what they deserve and so are you

if your cat is plugged, which it sounds like it is, it's because you are dumping fuel / running too rich.
at minimum you need a cat and o2. probably an injector or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 as well

but look at who is posting the problem, always a VG A/T. don't recall ever seeing a VE A/T with a blown trans.
I had problems with mine, but a fluid, filter, pan change and it was good as new.

Well last week the car ran hot. Radaitor bust,etc.. I replaced the radiator, water pump,& thermostat. Got everything back together got the heat to work again, raised the engine ran it for 30min at a time and got the bubles out. Today driving home it would not go over 45mph and the cal.converter got hot and red... I am at a lost for words now..

why do people never check the eletrical connectors? If I was still rocking an autobox I would but Im 5 speed now! Id have the shop check the connecors or diy when you get it back. Who knows that may be one of your problems.

UPDATE:

I called today to check status, the owner of shop goes "ya its coming out, we'll get it done". "you kinda got me at a bad time with the holidays and all" like it's my fault? I then asked him what he thinks went wrong. He told me he thinks its somethin to do with the 3rd gear clutches, but will not know for sure till its out and apart. The car has been in there 6 full business days now. I'm kinda gettin pissed. I know since it's a warranty job they're pushin it to the side and focusing on other jobs. Anyways he told me they'll get the trans out and apart and let me know what's going on, which I've heard 2 times now. I'm prob gonna end up just showing up in person tomorrow or somethin if I can take some time from work.

After 2 1/2 weeks I'm finally picking the car up tonight. It spun a bushing on the main shaft, causing a pressure leak burning up all clutches. It was supposed to be done this morning. I went down there about 11a.m. and they had just taken it for a road test. It was now giving them shifting probs. They used this computer to by-pass my cars trans ecu, and it was still not shifting right. So he had to replace the solenoids(which were replaced last Feb.). So basically for the second time this year I have a freshly rebuilt trans. Luckily it was covered under the 24k mile warranty they gave me.
