Aftermarket Alarm Problem

I just installed an aftermarket alarm and it works, with the doors opening and closing and everything, but after it arms, after 6 to 10 seconds later, the siren goes off. I checked all the connections, tried reprograming it, nothing works. I know that the car has the dome light delay, so I disable the parking lights flashing when the door is opened feature. Any ideas anybody?

check your connections at the alarm module, tape any unused wires. mine did that that, it was one of the triggers grounding to the metel from the lower dash piece. or you might have a wire crossed. if needed i can give a PDF file with the instuctions of the wires needed along with a lot of other info just send me a email with a subject of "car alarm PDF" it has the wires needed for maximas

The dome light delay should not set it off. it don't on mine as far as the parking lights that shouldn't have nothing to do with setting off your alarm. unless you have a wire crossed.

or one of your triggers is engaged already. use a multi meter to see if there is a connection already at you triggers. there should no power unless that door, hood, trunk, dome light, etc is open.... or on

Thanks Loco7 for sending me a file with whole bunch of alarm installation stuff. Here is a question I have: This is the wiring list from that file, it shows the same connections as the one that I already had. It shows one wire for the door trigger, I just had mine hooked up at the switch on the door, I tested it and found the wire that powers on when the door is open.

WIRE COLOR LOCATION
12V CONSTANT WIRE WHITE/RED or WHITE Ignition Harness
12V IGNITION WIRE BLACK/WHITE or WHITE/GREEN Ignition Harness
STARTER WIRE BLACK/YELLOW or WHITE/BLUE Ignition Harness
SECOND STARTER WIRE GREEN/WHITE or GREEN/RED Ignition Harness
ACCESSORY WIRE WHITE or WHITE RED Ignition Harness
PARKING LIGHTS (+) RED/YELLOW Harness Close To Steering Column
POWER DOOR LOCK (-) GRAY/RED Module Under Dash To Right Of
Steering Column
POWER UNLOCK (-) LT.BLUE Module Under Dash To Right Of
Steering Column
DOOR TRIGGER (-) ORANGE/BLACK Harness In Driver’s Kick Panel
DOMELIGHT SUPERVISION Use door trigger wire
TRUNK TRIGGER (-) PINK/BLACK At “THEFT WARNING” Module
Under Dash Left Of Steering
Column Or Light In Trunk
HOOD TRIGGER (-) GRAY/BLACK At “THEFT WARNING” Module
Under Dash Left Of Steering
Column
TRUNK RELEASE (+) BROWN Driver’s kick panel
FACTORY ALARM ARM (-) LT.GREEN/WHITE At “THEFT WARNING” Module
Under Dash Left Of Steering
Column
FACTORY ALARM DISARM (-) LT.GREEN/BLACK At “THEFT WARNING” Module
Under Dash Left Of Steering
Column
TACHOMETER LT.GREEN/BLACK or BLUE At Ignition Coil
BRAKE WIRE (+) RED/WHITE At Brake Pedal Switch

it shows the same connections as the one that I already had. It shows one wire for the door trigger, I just had mine hooked up at the switch on the door, I tested it and found the wire that powers on when the door is open. In the troubleshouting page it says:

A short time after arming the alarm, the alarm goes off for no reason.
o You must diode isolate the vehicle’s door trigger wires as described earlier in this document.
o If you have already diode isolated the vehicle’s door trigger wires, check to be sure the diodes are
wired in the proper direction.

But they were talking about cars that have more than one door trigger wire, or one wire for each door. That's when they say, I'd have to install a diode per wire.
Does our car have more than one door trigger wire, or not, Anybody???

There may be an issue with the alarm because on mine i just hooked up one single wire with no diode and it works just fine. try disconnecting the door trigger and see if it still sets it off. if so you know thats not the issue. my guess is it is either the alarm itself or one of the trigger wires that is not being used is grounding. or if you feel up to drive to Spokane WA and I'll help you wire it...

You should just try hooking it up without diodes, it should work (worked for Loco7 ), and if it doesn't, let me know and I'll email you the e-book he emailed me, it explains everything. By the way, the lock/unlock wires are grey/red & sky blue, located on the door timing modul, which is a little box underneath the dashboard, to the right of the steering column (in case you didn't know). I don't remember the trunk wire, sinse I never hooked mine up, but I can email you the whole thing, let me know. My alarm still don't work, because my input shaft bearing went out, and I have no time to worry about the alarm right now. My email is valz23@msn.com, if you do need that info. Goodluck!
