Possibly stupid tire Q..

Well now that the Max is back on the road, and the Honda is (Finally) sold, I need to replace the front tires. Bad alignment = new tires. I was looking on line and 2 different tire retailers list 205/65/15 for the stock size. The guy that I bought mine from had 205/60/15's on it. So that got me thinking, they also list 215/60/15 as an optional size, anyone out there run this size? Any rubbing? Last Q, really, unitl I can get the jack to replace the rears, could I run the 215's on the front for a few weeks? Any alignment issues? Look stupid? Lemme hear ya.

205/65/15 is the stock size for a 92 SE
the 215/60/15s are VERY close to the stock size (25.49 vs 25.16) so no worries there
oh and the 205/60/15 are 24.69 (2mph off @ 65 mph)

tire wear

I would make sure you check your ball-joints,
because bad ball-joints will still give inside wear
to the new tires.Just a thought. ty dan w

I would get all of your alignment/suspension woes in order before buying brand new tires. That, or have it done shortly after.

Otherwise, you are just throwing money away on tires.

Oh, there is also a Tire and Wheel section on Maxima.org. In the stickies there is a tire calculator, where you can determine what sizes are close to the stock size. Rubbing generally isn't an issue until you get to large widths like 235 or 245, depending on the wheel size and offset. Also, keep in mind the rim width when determining tire width.

i had 205/60/15's for well over a year. they were a 'performance' tire. they had better grip and less sidewall flex than my current 205/65's and i thought they looked better on the stock rims.

couple of things here....
when chasing a vibration down, if the wheels have been balanced as u say, i like to check this by moving the front wheels to the back and the back to the front. if u get the same exact vibration then ur issue is a bit more serious.

if the vibration goes away after the tire switch - then it's ur wheels.

but since u mentioned the scraping as well (i'm assuming u're talking about the inner wheel well) it seems like that concern in conjunction with the vibration issue (assuming all wheels are correctly balanced) then u r probably looking at some type of axle/suspension issue.

how do ur tires look as far as tread goes?
have ur brakes been done recently - were the wheels torqued down properly?
does the vibration go away at any speed in excess of 40 mph?
inquiring minds wanna know

Well no I still stays the same 40 or 45 it starts to shake. Some people think it's the CV Joints and others the tires. But I jus got to tires like 5months ago and then my tranny went out and I had the car stopped like for 1 month then after that when I had it fixed and started to use it it started to shake real bad. And also one other thing off topic does anybody know where to find the time relay box for the locks?
