cai install
hey im supposed to get my place racing cold air intake for my max inon mondya morning..and was wondering what the difficulty is on installation....ive heard you need to move the fuse box and some other things butim not sure how true this is....i already have the three and a half inch bit to drill the hole through the wheel well...but imnot sure if the job is simply taking off the stock air assembly, filter etc...or if its moving things around and more complicated...
It takes about 2 hours and a half, maybe 3 if you are slow and careful (which you should be). You will need a couple of screwdrivers, This is what I did:
1. Remove all stock air components back to the intake manifold, except the mass air flow sensor.
2. Remove the battery
3. Unbolt the battery tray, and turn it upwards out of your way. it is not necessary to remove it completely.
4. Remove the fuse box that is on the fender well. You must remove the cover and the far left and right relays (the green and red) to get to the bolts, unless you have a small wrench.
5. Clear (but do not disconnect) all othe wiring that is in your way.
6. Use the pattern to make the hole. I thought this was going to be the hard part before I moved the battery tray, and saw that the pattern was ver self-explanitory
7. Put the pipe that has only one bend, long end first, into the hole.
8. Put everything back except for the stock air stuff.
9. Connect the longer pipe to the intake manifold and MAF, then line up the pipe that is in the hole with the other end of the MAF.
10. move the plastic fender cover and is in front of the tire and put your filter on.

that is what the pattern is for. It uses that existing hole, as well as two other bolt locations to show you exactly where to cut.
