Hello Everybody! how do you measure MPG and how big is the Maxima 90 SE Tank, my guess is that it's 15 Gal but not sure, when refilling an almost empty tank pump shows 14.25 gal. All I know is that I spend about 50 USD on gas every week and I just travel around 120 miles a week but it's city driving, I'm sure im getting low MPG, have to fix exhaust fissure, and clean injectors as well.

your exhaust leak is probably half of your bad mileage.

my first VE had a small leak, and it got 5 mpg worse than my current VE with a non-leaking exhaust

I was getting close to 25mpg on a VG30 but I drive like a granny haha. I also found that having the exhaust in good condition helped with mileage.

I work pretty far from home which makes me do alot of highway driving, so I get on average 600 km (375 miles) a tank which is 25 mpg.

I went to Boston this summer with my Max and did 700 km (438 miles) on a tank which is 29 mpg. I think this is due to the fact that you get better gas in the U.S.

Also, I have to say that your highways 10 x better that here in Canada.

Loved my trip !

Getting Horrible Gas Milage...

I'm getting about 13-16MPG City/Highway Mix, and can't figure out why. I know when the car was newer it got quite a bit better, even with a lead foot. New O2 Sensor, Cleaned Throttle Body, Cleaned EGR, Oil Changed Consistantly, New Sparks And Wires, Alignment is good, No Exhaust Leaks to speak of. New Transmission, no drag, VG Engine. Anything I'm missing!?... It's making me crazy, much less than 300 Miles to a Tank. Thanks in Advance!

are there any you aren't speaking of?
even a little one in the wrong place will hurt city mileage.

Well I put a shop-vac on the "Out" setting and taped the hose to the inside of the exhaust pipe and went down the whole exhaust piping and didn't feel ANY air. No suspicious smells either, o2 sensor reads fine as well; no (check engine) lights.

Milage is horrible crusing at a consistent 55-70 as well. Exhaust Manifold Studs??

Just converted the airbox intake over to a 3.5" Cone High Flow Intake so that can't be it. Got all the right size tires, and the only junk in my trunk is a subwoofer so it looks like I'm just going to have to deal with it. Injectors are all clean too BTW, Also sea foamed the car twice within the past 6 months.

I voted 20mpg or so.

After some SeaFoam in the crankcase, plug valleys, intake and in the gas tank along with an oil change to some syn, an egr cleaning, vaccume line replacement(s) and a plug and wire change I may get up to 26mpg.

1992GXE VG30E, auto, 170k miles with minor issues that should be addressed with the above work.

before I took my 92 GXE off the road (still own it but drive a 97 GLE now) it was getting 24 MPG back and forth to work (some city, some highway) and 28ish on highway. some road trips I've actually been getting 30. She's still a young engine (only 116k miles) so that might make a difference.
