THis sounds like a pain! Was it just that the cyclinder went dead that you knew or is there a way to test with them in the vechile. Or do you have to tear down to the wiring harness to the injector to measure the resistance? What about a cleaning fuel flush process? Is there value in that?

Runs rough and dumps fuel

Hello everyone Im new and may not be doing this right but here goes. Yesterday my 92 se suddenly started running rough. I pulled the connector off #1 coil and no change, then I switched coils, still no change so I assumed a bad injector. I purchased 3 new injectors (part #16600-96E01-red) and replaced them. When I started the car it was still idling rough and extremely rich (dumping fuel into the cyls. and smoking. Please help. Also I have the Kent Moore VTC rebuild tools and am willing to loan them or donate them to the org. Just let me know the shipping address and I can send them. Please help with my problem, its my only car and I really need to get it running. Thanks!

did you replace the O'rings and lube them before you put them back in the rail?

I did replace the o-rings and put a small amount of oil on them as suggested in Chilton manual. Is it possible that the fuel pressure regulator went bad? Another thing I can't figure out is that when I started it up the idle was still rough and when I disconneted the coils one at a time now its now its #3 that that doesn't seem to drop the idle when I unplug it.

ANYTHING is possible.
A vaccum leak is also possible and fairly likely

Is the Check Engine light on, and did you check for any codes from the main ECU? I am assuming the 3 injectors you replaced are in the front and not under the intake plenum? You can check the injector by testing its resistance with an ohmeter. For the ones in the front, pull the connector and check for resistance between the two pins on the injector. Good injectors are in the 10-14 ohm range. To test the 3 injectors under the intake plenum, there is a 4 pin injector sub harness connector that can be tested using an ohmeter as well. Do you have an FSM (factory service manual)? You could also pull the spark plug from a suspect cylinder and check if it is wet with gas. Then you will have a pretty good indication that the injector is either leaking or has failed. Let us know the status.
