Got my Zt-2 wideband and timming belt pops!
Well yeah It dont seem that I can get it all together now. Finally got over hard times and got my wide band in and installed it saturday morning.
Well I just put this engine togther about 3 months ago (Blew a tranny and was donw for a month from then) Had Scott (boosted maxima) port the heads and we added some nice iskey cams to it. And I put it back together and have had it running for about 3 month and finally got the wide band in on saturday. Well decided not to get on it to hard intill I got back from this trip this week end I took up state.Well on the way all of a sudden the car just cuts right off. No power lose or anything. So I pull over and are like WTF!
ok It would not recrank. So I knew a a sensor had to shut it down. SO I check the ecu for codes and got the cam positon sensor and the knock sensor . So I check for fuel pressure and it was fine then I found I had no spark. WEll I took off the distributor cap and seen the rotor button wasnt spinning. So I call mtcookson to see if He had any Ideas about it And said If I was luck the distributor had broke. So on the side of I-26 I took it out and seen that it was fine and when I spent it over the cams would not turn.
Im just hoping the new upgraded valve spring I put it would have may return the valve and none are bent. Dam and the wide band was so sweet too.

Very sorry to hear. I don't understand why your belt would pop after only 5k.
It doesn't seem to make sense. Could it be all the extra power you have?
You said it didn't crank again? When my belt popped, the car cranked better then ever and I had spark on 3 of the back cylinders if I remember correctly. I wonder why that was. Probably the position the distributer got stuck at.

ouch man.. that sucks.
what kind of timing belt were you using? I've seen too many horror stories with the $19 autozone belts.. Gates or OEM only when I do a job.
unfortunetly, I bet if it broke while driving on the highway that you're going to be buying some new valves. If you're lucky then you won't have to replace the valve guides, but it wouldn't hurt if you bent the valves.
also be sure to use some very fine sandpaper and clean off any dings in the top of the pistons from the valves. the high spots will cause heat risers and detonation if you don't sand them off.

Thanks I did not no that about the pistons!
The only thing I could think of is pre-installation damage or improper tension. I was reading through the FSM the other day and they actually mentioned loosening all of the rockers when setting the tension of the belt for proper tension (makes sense... but I don't remember the stupid haynes book mentioning that, which could potentially be a problem).
Either way, I'd double check then triple check the tension of the belt to keep it from happening again... almost makes me want to check the belt again on the Maxima VG I'm putting in the Turbo Z... scary stuff.
