Don't make me do this again

Well, I'm pulling the plenum off my 92 SE for the third time on this job (which had nothing to do with the damned injectors, just cleaned them to be thorough). The outfit that cleaned them must have gouged the inside of the fuel rail so that any "O" ring gets cut every time I install it (which doesn't show up until you reassemble the engine and try and run it).
My question is, do I need to use a new plenum gasket every time or can I reuse the one I had just put on? I know it is somewhat compressed, but will it work or should I buy and wait for a new one?

Reuse it. It doesn't seem like a crush type anyway. Just don't tear it. I have an extra empty VE fuel rail for sale.

great news

O.K. I will reuse the plenum gasket since it was only on for one day and a two mile drive. I've found the problem, which is another gouged lower "O" ring. I can't figure out why it's getting gouged up. I lubed it with oil before assembling and I can't find any sharp edges on the inside of the fuel rail. Any ideas for how this "O" ring is getting cut up during assembly?

I am not sure what kind of "oil" you are using but go and buy some Silicone Lube in a spray can for them. It stays really thin and works very well for O-Rings. Also they can be cut up when installing them just from the 2 sharp close tolerance edges you are trying to get them into.

I was told that any silicone lubes were verboten on the injectors and rail since the silicone was NOT soluble in gasoline and it would break off and clog the injectors.
