my ve 5 spd. trans. got jam again!

for the second time my trans. got jam up again. i was driving down 278 in staten island wen i got off the highway ramp wen i down shifted into 2nd gear my shifter got hard and i can't put any geard on, it stay in neutral all the time. this is the second time in the past 5 years that it happend to me. the first time it got stock between the 2nd and 4th gear. the sincrow? got fried. is there any other tran. swap that could be done on the ve motor? will any other gen fid on the ve motor? what gets me is that i was't even getting hard on the turbo, and i was going to run it on ENGLISH TOWN that night.

turbo? there is your problem then. get your transmission built up, instead of just swapping in a different used one

rebuild the tranny on a regular basis by replacing the input shaft bearings about once a year and you will have much fewer problems with it.

third gear and the synchros are also notoriously weak in them, but I still have yet to have issues with anything but input bearings-- even with all of my road course time on the thing..

good luck on that man... your best bet is to call level10 and see if there's anything they can help you with on getting stronger internals.

you can also buy another tranny and shotpeen the internals while replacing the bearings. should make them stronger, but I don't know if it will solve your problems.

Import Performance Transmissions is in Wayne, NJ. They know of the input shaft bearing problem and can put in a slightly larger, stronger bearing.
