Test drove a 99 se-L 5 speed....

I was on my way to buy this car I thought I wanted... 99 5 speed blk/grey
material. bone stock $4700... looked at it and it had alot of wear on it and paint chips everywhere.Took it for a spin and it did'nt compare to my 94 se...I was like, if we put our cars side by side and I would pick mine.... question is,how many of you 3rd gen owners have owned a forth gen? did you like the ride better?more power? I felt less power, felt more like a boat than the 94....I'm confused now. I think I have the car I want, but it has 235,000 miles

3rd Gens forever!!

Test drove a 2006 SE the other day...It handled better than my stock GXE setup (going to eibach/koni this week). I'll have to see what I think when I have evaluated the new setup. Also got a chance to slip behind the wheel of a 350Z. The stick version is up to 300hp this year and man, do they handle! They run about the same price as a new max, too.

I have driven a 96 and a 98 automatic. They were rockets compared to my VG. They weren't as fast as my VE. I liked the dash and it seemed like they had more room on the interior. They were also bone stock and handled like PIGS.

I've had a couple of fourth gens and a third gen. I liked the ride better on the third gen stock for stock, but I'm satisfied with my fourth gen's handling now with eibach's and blue's and 16" 300zx rims.

As far as power goes, I had a VE 5spd before my fourth gen and they had similar mods and the fourth gen felt faster off the line because of the torque, but didn't rev as well as the VE. If that fourth gen felt so slow it was probably because of maintenance issues like knock sensor or something.

If you really love how the third gen feels, then get one with lower miles than yours to mod. I could have just got a VE 5spd in great shape with low miles for about $2000 the other day.

Extremely worn KYBs w/ Intrax springs. The ride will beat the hell out of you, especially with the 40 series 18s and my Blehmco parallel link kit. But it looks so damn good and handles so well that I can't bring myself to change it.

The difference is night and day when compared to my VG auto. It has Eibachs and Tokicos that are in pretty good shape. 225/50-16 tires and stock parallel links. HUGE difference.

He sure will. And with some suspension mods, the 5.5 will handle amazingly.

PLUS- He'll enjoy the better ride and the more power .

I have a 3rd gen VE auto and a 4th gen 5spd and i like the ride better on my 3rd gen (stock too) and ofcourse the the VE will rape VQ at the top end but other than that the VQ is pretty torquey at the bottom part of the rpm range. I cant wait to get a Y-pipe and a 00VI done hopefully this summer on the VQ and i will see whee they stack up.

yeah that used to be my car. I painted it as part of the deal for PA to buy it. I also painted the wheels...they came to me white.

I do body work as well...have you not visited my websites?...for shame for shame. lol

I wish I had before pics of the Scout I painted a couple of months ago. It was by far my biggest project to date. I never took before pics which is odd for me and the guy I did the work for keeps saying he will get me some but I havent seen them yet.

Anyway I had to cut two panels out that were rusted and replace them, pull out the quarter panels that were dented in and the corners connected to the quarters were just a mess and beat up really bad so they had to be pulled out and repaired as well, The tail gate was beat up and one door was creased as well.

When I got finished with it they all looked brand new. You can see pics here if you want. pics 17-24 are some I took recently after touching up a spot his kid scratched. The truck is actually a little dirty but I wasnt going to wash it for him lol.
