Bad Mass Airflow Meter

Bad Mass Airflow Meter
My car started dying on me a few days ago and I dropped it off at the Nissan dealership to have them check it out. Well, they told me the first thing they had to replace was the distributor cap and suggested the rotor, plugs, and wires be replaced too. Since it had been quite a while since that stuff had been replaced and the fact that I needed my car back ASAP...I had them do the work.
Well that didn't solve the issue, they test drove it and it died on them. They checked the logs and found that it was the Mass Airflow Meter. This is a pretty expensive part...$525 from this dealer, $475 from courtesy, and waiting on another price from another shop locally.
Does anyone happen to have one of these available for sale? Also, what's involved in replacing this unit? They are only charging $50 or so to have it installed, but if it's just something I plug in I will do it myself.
TIA,
Clayton

Here are few pics of where it is and how to remove the connector...
as michal said above, just remove the bolts from the air filter box and remove the clamp from the other side...
Use a pick of some sort to remove the clip on the electrical connector...

Ha! They want $50 to install the thing! That is a pretty basic installation...If you can change your own oil you should not have a problem with the MAF. Look in the for sale section for anyone parting out a car...A few bucks and you'll be set up with one.
P.S. I'll install it for you for $20. LOL

And in response to the original question. $50 for installation is insane. Changing oil is about as hard as changing MAFs. Go to the Parts for sale board and find one there. Or PM vansskaterfreak. He has two up for grabs, i believe.

I think most of us that have been on the board for a while have picked one up somewhere or another. They are all the same for the 3rd gens. I have a spare (not for sale right now) just in case mine conks out or I have a problem and I want to be sure to eliminate the fact that my current one might be bad.
They are very easy to swap, just take a look at it.

Ok, I feel silly for asking now that I realize what part this actually is. I was confused because the tech kept calling it the Mass Airflow Meter, so I thought the sensor and meter were two different parts. Anyway, I know that they are the same thing now and I'm going to do this repair myself. Just need to find a used MAF sensor for a good price now. Thanks for the info guys!

I switched out my MAFs when I installed the cold air intake last weekend. The prongs on the MAF side of the connector read ABCDEF....ABCDE had metal prongs in these 5 slots while the other one had prongs only in BCDE...Anyone got an explanation for that one?
