is it the starter?
Just happened today as I was getting in my car from school. Took like 2 or so to start the car as the engine turned over. Sometime it would start normally, other times it would turn over really fast for a few seconds and then start. Is it the starter?

when it doesn't start, does it turn over and not fire or does it not turn over and u just hear clicking?
if u only heard clicking then i would look at the starter
if the engine turns but doesn't fire then u're issue is elsewhere

o...then i'd think starter is on its way
just fyi...back in the day when remote starters were beginning to become very popular, lots of manufacturers would deny warranty claims on failed starters....not sure how they justified it but just saw it happen alot...i'm guessing starter and remote system technologies have advanced to the point where car makers now put them on at the factory

I was having a similar problem. Every other start the starter would spin and whine but not engage. I took it to schucks and had the guy test it. It passed the test but he noticed it hesitated when the gear was pushed out. This hesitation allowed the gear to get going too fast to engage. A rebuilt solved the probelm.
