Flip Flop Trunk Question.....?

So I was searching around on cardomain for new ideas to try over the summmer with my car... and found a whole bunch of people with flip flop kits.... What is involved in preforming this swap... is there a kit out there or just a bunch of random parts thrown in to make it all work... Help me out guys.... Thanks in advance ~Charlie~

i think the flip flop trunk is kinda cool looking .. shrug, anyway... theres a kit on ebay for the flip flop trunk OR you could go to home depot and buy 2 door hinges , save yourself alot of money that way.

if you want to do for a show purpose it's cool but for everyday use it is not practical. the last time i hinged the trunk was last year when i took this pic since than it has been in the stock position. but whenever i need to show off it's there

Speaking of tasteless mods. I saw a Caprice yesterday sitting on 24" chrome wheels. They were so big the car could not be lowered. So, the car sat about 18 inches off the ground, looking like a friggin 4x4. I thought that was the most ignorant looking car I've ever seen. The only other mods to the car was the side emblems: chrome with what looked like diamonds on the inside and reading "24". Whatever.

Hey dont blame that on us. I saw another trend lately as well with those cars. They have started putting the wheel size in big stickers on the back quarter panel of the car. At first I thought it was just one guy but now every one of those cars I see has 24" or whatever size wheel it is in big stickers on the rear quarter panels.

I dont know man...Its just hard to understand why someone would want to JACK UP a car like its a truck to fit huge wheels. I also dont think I would spend 3 to 4 times (probably more on some of these cars) the value of a car on a set of wheels and tires. I dont mind the wheels its the act of jacking the car up to put them on I think is rediculous...Look at shavedmax's car...his 20s look awesome on his car but they are tucked the car isnt jacked up.

I dont consider 18s large either. I had light 18s on my last Maxima and thought it looked great. 18s are so common now with factory cars that its really not considered big.

I can hate on anything I want btw...its my opinion and I will stick with it. I dont think you should not do what you want to do just because of my or any others opinion against it but its something I think (again opinion) is very tacky and would never ever consider doing it.

If you want to go large get the right offset and tuck them...jacking the car up to look like a truck is just tacky imo.

i completely agree with that, why spend 8k or more on a set of 24's when most of the cars they put them on are worth like, 2k at the max, i think i've only seen 3 vehicles that looked good with rims like that, one was a truck and the others were escalades. 18's on our cars looks really good, anything bigger doesn't unless you do it like shaved max and tuck it in

OK a truck or SUV looks good on some 24 or something but a car look absolutely retarded IMO. If you want go outrageous and do it with a car to be different cool i could respect that if it wasn't so played out but just to say i have 24 on a 78 caddy is dumb in my opinion, like this guy it's looks dumb but you have to give the guy credit for being original.
