i don't have a SE but my service manual says its on the right side of the engine. Since the engine is transverse mounted, the right side is next to the fire wall. according to autozone, quote "UNDER HOOD, CENTER, UPPER ENGINE AREA, MOUNTED IN INTAKE MANIFOLD" end quote.

A pcv valve sucks fumes from the cranckcase into the intake manifold. What I can't find info on is if the valve itself is at the intake manifold end of the hose or down along side the firewall.

Yeah, I had the same problem. Here's a pic of where it is. This isn't my picture by the way, I found it on another thread and saved it. If anyone wants to make claim to the pic, go for it.

Look in the engine bay on the passenger side next to the firewall. If you stick your head back there and look down you should see it, just look for the black hosing.

As the previous post said, look through the hood hinge and spring on the passenger side of the engine bay. About 11" below the air intake plenum, next to the plenum support plate on the block, is the PCV valve (the sadist who put it there should be flogged). It has a black, 90 degree hose attached to it with a spring clamp. To get it off I had to get an offset tip, ultralong set of needle nosed pliers (about 11" long) to pull the clamp off ( the hose slipped off with the clamp, serendipity). Use a deep socket ( I don't remember the size) with a universal joint on it (the PCV sticks out at an angle) to remove and replace. I would recommend some sort of cleaner to be squirted on the unit before disassembly, since it's usually packed around with dirt and grease that you don't want in the engine.

sure, it can create an undesired vacum problem if it sticks in the wrong position
