How does it sound when you plug the resonator?

I've heard that when you plug the resonator you don't loose power at all and it doesn't do anything but make your car louder. What kind of loud? Is it ricer loud, at ALL RPM levels, or only when you're pushing it? Anybody done this and have any comments? Thanks!

yes, it's ricer loud any time you've got your foot on the gas. hasn't been dyno'd yet, but most people say they actually notice a loss of power by removing it.

Is this some cheap form of intake? So CAI's don't do anything but add a sound to the car. I am soo surprised

he's talking about the resonator on the stock intake. some people cut it off and cover the hole. im down on mods that just make cars louder but no power increase. its fakin!! its like in highschool kids would punch holes in their mufflers so they would sound like they were modded super

i actually noticed some power gains in the low rpms, it worked fine for me. it just makes it sound more throaty, but definitely not louder

Ask Aaron92SE, he has alot of experience with it, and can give you a few tips as to how to plug the hole. Also, here is one write-up on it.

With my VE, when I removed it a long time ago, all it did was get much louder! I plugged it up according to the write up Duckman540i linked to.

Of course, I couldn't notice any loss or gain in power. But after doing some research on resonators with naturally aspirated motors, I put my resonator back on after seeing a lot of dyno sheets showing a loss in power by removing it. And we are only talking a couple HP here either way. So if you like the noise, by all means, remove it.
